Quasi 3-D Refined Flow and Contaminant Transport Software and its Application in River Water Mizing in the Amazon River
This paper reports a quasi 3-D hydrodynamic simulation, with the aim to develop the general-purpose computational codes for grid generation and flow/pollutant transport in complex natural water domains. Three turbulence depth-integrated two equation closure models (k-ε,k-w and k-ω) are used to close the hydrodynamic fundamental governing equations. The last model (k-ω) is recently established by the authors and still in testing process. The developed two computational codes (grid generator and flow-solver) and three turbulence models will be included in a developing software, financially supported by FAPESP. The expected software can be used to simulate and analyze the problems relative to flow, contaminant transport, river diversion, stream pollution, water resource protection, environmental modeling and accidental discharges.
