The Simulation of Spontaneous Restoration of Vegetation Spatial Pattern in the Yanhe River Catchment
The evolution process and distribution rule of natural vegetation has the crucial scientific meaning to the recovery of ecology and plays an important role in target setting, species choice, trajectory prediction and potential assessment in ecological restoration. The Loess Plateau, locating in the middle reach of the Yellow River, suffers severe soil erosion and also faces the issue in ecological restoration due to the extreme destruction of vegetation. This paper will try to address this problem through a case study in the Yanhe River (YR), by using the spatial analysis tools for the establishment of the district site environmental simulation models, and by studying the relationship between the remaining natural vegetation and environment, building prediction models for different species and simulating and predicting the prospect of spontaneous restoration combined with generalized additive model in the Yanhe River catchment. As an initial work in this area, the author hopes that this work can provide scientific implications for ecological restoration in the Yanhe River catchment, and experiences in methods and model building for studies in large scale.
