Comparison between River Basin Water Resources Regulation and Water Supply Regulation of Middle Route of South-to-North Water Diversion Project
Middle Route of South-North Water Diversion is a long-distance and over-sized project that crosses basins and provinces. Its regulation and management is very complicated. The paper introduces river basin water resources regulation in China, and compares their similarities and differences between Middle Route of South-to-North Water Diversion and river basin water resources regulation. Some inspirations have been obtained from river basin water resources regulation on water supply regulation of Middle Route of South-North Water Diversion. The water supply regulation of the Middle Route Project shall not only learn from the effective experience in integrated regulation of river basin water resources at home, but also fully consider the characteristics of its own. The water supply regulation of the Middle Route Project shall comprehensively consider the targets and restrictions of water distribution index, demand and supply difference, water supply benefit, water environment protection and hydraulic limitations, further study the formulation methods for the regulation plans of the Danjiangkou Reservoir in each period and the water supply plans of each diversion outlet of the Middle Route s main channel, and clutch very minute to work out related management provisions on water supply regulation, so that the smooth and highly-efficient operation of the Middle Route can be guaranteed.
