Bio Restoration and Rational Utilization on Heavy Metals in Dredged Sludge from Water Conservancy Projects

The fill-up zones are often used in dredging construction for water conservancy projects. The temporarily occupied land would be re-cultivated after completion of construction. The heavy metals content in dredged sludge occasionally exceed the Environmental Quality Standards for soils when applying the environmental impact assessment on water conservancy projects. It is not allowed to cultivate in cropland where the heavy metals content exceed the concentration limits according to the Environmental Quality Standards for soils. The heavy metals content in parts of reach of the Guo River was found over standard in the procedure of environment impact assessment for the Guo River regulation project. The authors analyzed the heavy metals content in the dredged sludge and predicted the changing trend of the heavy metals content in nature environment, finally the counter measurements for bio restoration were proposed.
