Study on Water Requirements for Self-purification of the Yellow River
Concept and connotation of water requirements for self-purification of the Yellow River are defined. Taking account of water functional characteristics and water pollution features of the Yellow River, the paper analyzes and demonstrates fact that water quality protection target of the Yellow River is class HI of Environmental Quality Standard for Surface Water, choosing COD as main pollution control factor; making use of one-dimensional water quality model, identifying and establishing water requirements model for self-purification of the Yellow River. The paper fully considers the requirements of state relevant environmental protection policies, makes optimization calculation of water requirements for self-purification of the Yellow River and variable range within the variable range of the standard value of Class-III water quality protection target of the Yellow River, and puts forward the water requirements for self purification of 10 major hydrologic sections of the Yellow River and the concentration control range of pollutants discharged into the Yellow River from major branches.
