The Influence and Function of Inter-basin Water Transfer Project in Alleviating Water Shortage of the Yellow River
On account of the water scarcity in the Yellow River Basin, with the rapid economic and social development, the gaps between water supply and demand have become increasingly conspicuous. Water shortage in the Yellow River Basin has become the constraint for sustainable economic and social development. By analyzing the water shortage in the Yellow River Basin and the water supply scope and objectives of all water transfer projects, the function and effect in alleviating the water shortage of the Yellow River by the West, East and Middle lines of South-to-North Water Diversion Project, Water Transfer Project from Han River to Wei River and Xiao-Jiang Inter-basin Water Transfer Project, etc. are discussed. The position and function of South-to-North Water Diversion Project to the Yellow River Basin and the irreplaceability from macro allocation relationship are explained. To solve the problem of water shortage of the Yellow River Basin on the whole, it is necessary to accelerate the implementation of the West line of South-to-North Water Diversion Project.
