Study on Sustainable Development and Impact of Silt-trapping Dam Construction in the Loess Plateau
The Loess Plateau in the Yellow River Basin is an area with the most serious water and soil erosion and the most vulnerable ecological environment in China and even in the world. Serious water and soil erosion deteriorates the ecological environment in this area, which has become a key issue of restricting the social and economic development. Silt-trapping daM construction has made remarkable efficiency since 1970s with the mark of skeletal engineering construction and technique routing of rationally allocation and combined utilization of different silt-trapping dams. It has been proved by many practical cases that the project of silt-trapping daM construction is significant to improve the local producing condition. Focusing on sustainable development, this article discusses the relationship between silt-trapping dam construction and district development based on the systematic analysis of real situation and current silt-trapping dam development, and provides some suggestions for sustainable development of silt-trapping dam construction, economy, society and ecological environment.
