Land Use Change and its Influence on the Regional Ecological Water Use in Sanmenzia Area of Yellow River

In recent years, regional ecological water use has been a new and hot field in ecology, hydrology and water resources. By interpreting Landsat TM images, the dynamic information of land use in Sanmenxia area of Yellow River Basin in 1987, 1994 and 2002 is obtained. Results show that area of both river and farmland decreased, but the area of bare land increased. The woodland area shows little variation. Using the Penman-Monteith equation, we get the regional ecological water use of Sanmenxia area. Based on the characteristics of the regional ecological water use, the influence of land use change on the regional ecological water use is studied with the method of hemeroby. Hemeroby in Sanmenxia area of Yellow River Basin is-0.041,2 in 1987,-0.024,5 in 1994 and 0.043,5 in 2000 respectively. Hemeroby shows that the land use and land cover change in this region has amplified the effect of climatic change and reduced the regulation of land use and land cover pattern on regional ecological water use. Locally increasing regional ecological water use intensified a series of eco environmental problems.
