The Effect of Operation Regulation on Deposition of the Three Gorges Reservoir
Based on one-dimensional, unsteady flow and non-uniform sediment mathematical model, through analyzing the change of the deposition process and amount that is caused by the change of reservoir operation regulation, a conclusion is made that the flood control water level has an important effect on the silt-stable in the Three Gorges Reservoir ( TGR). The reasonable change of the duration of flood control water level and the definite range change of normal water level will only change the deposition developing process of TGR, which will not change the final silt-stable state. The holistic change of flood control water level will not only change the deposition developing process but also change the silt-stable state, the silt-stable in the Three Gorges Reservoir is decided by the duration of flood control water level, if the duration of flood control water level satisfies the erosion of the sediment deposition aroused by the reducing of the duration of flood control water level. The flood control water level is very pivotal to the silt-stable in the three Gorges Reservoir. Then, the flood control should be paid attention to when constituting the operation regulation. It means important to flood control, power generation and navigation.
