Preliminary Discussion on Ecological Civilization Construction in the Yellow River Basin
The Yellow River is the mother river and cradle of the Chinese nationality, which not only undertakes historical civilization for several thousand years, but also nurtures the 8.7% population of China. However, with the rapid social and economic development and the effect of the global climate change and mankind activities, the Yellow River faces the ecological crisis such as river source area degradation, water resources shortage, increase on area of the soil erosion, serious water pollution, frequently occurring river cutoff and the deterioration of the living environment etc. The ecological civilization is proposed and rational selected based on the ecological crisis and evaluation of the traditional development mode, and also another important theory revolution of mankind to the understanding of civilization development tendency. It is very meaningful to carry on the construction of the river ecology civilization for removing the block of the river ecological crisis and improve the progress of the mankind civilization and sustainable development. Therefore it is imperative to promote the river ecological civilization construction in the Yellow River basin.
