Distribution Characteristics and Ecological Risks of Persistent Organic Pollutants in Sediment of the Mid-upper Yellow River
In this paper, on the basis of collecting and analyzing the statistics of Persistent Organic Pollutants (POPs, take OCPs, PAHs and PCBs as examples) in the sediment of the mid-upper Yellow River, the distribution characteristics and ecological risk levels of the POPs are discussed. The results show that except for some branches of the Yellow River such as partial segments of Mang River, Yiluo River and Fen River, in which the concentration of the POPs is higher than the ERM and obvious ecological risks are existing, nowadays the POPs existing in the sediment of the mid-upper Yellow River are in medium and low levels, and the ecological risk is not obvious. POPs mainly come from synthetic and different types of pollutants with different sources. And the pollution caused by POPs is more and more serious now; however, some relative departments do not pay much attention to the survey on POPs in sediment of the mid-upper Yellow River and some other rivers, the detective work is not sufficient with less researches and management and there is even no relevant standard.
