Application of Shielding and Converging Electric Field for Dikes Detection

Shielding and converging electric field could be formed to increase the density of electric current in objective area for dike detection so as to obtain more information from deeper underground, through adding electric poles for power supply besides the two sides of the center electric poles to create a shielding and converging electric field, based on the rule that same electric charge reprobates from each other. One special setting up of electric poles was designed and the experimental instrument was made with the application of the principle. Experiments were carried out in the cases of base stones of one controlling engineering work and known cross-dike pipes, and the results of them were compared with that from traditional direct current electric resistance method. It was indicated that stable shielding and converging electric field could be formed underground with the method of shielding electric field, which effectively address the bottleneck of rapid reduction of electric current density with the increasing depth of detection and relatively low detection resolution, solve the technical difficulties that traditional direct current resistance methods are not able to detect decentralized objects like piping, cave, base stones embedded into the foundation of dikes, and has advanced advantages in its technology.
