To Build Information Platform for the Yellow River IWRM
Traditionally, water resources management in the Yellow River has focused on engineering construction for flood control and on irrigation as a means of promoting economic growth. With the need of economic development in the Yellow River basin, the increasing demand for water resources impose a considerable burden on the Yellow River and its natural environment. Integrated water resources management in the Yellow River basin is considered as the way to mediate a number of controversial issues, in particular, water regulation plays an important role. The Yellow River Water Regulation Management System aims at building a robust, reliable and expanded information platform for regulating the Yellow River water. This article describes the architecture of this platform and shows the potential for its application to other rivers like Talimu River and Dongjiang River.
