Mechanical Technology for Dyke Reinforcement by Sediment Discharge in the Lower Reaches of the Yellow River

It began to utilize mechanical technology for dyke reinforcement by sediment discharge in 1970 s, and the main machines are river suction dredgers made by workers themselves serving the Yellow River, then hydraulic dredging units and dredging pumps introduced. This technology takes full advantage of sediment characteristics of the Yellow River, firstly dredging sediment from the river channels and then using hydraulic transmission to set sediment in the back of dykes and protecting river banks effectively. Now the technology is mature after practice and improvement for 30 years, which has made great economic and social benefits, and then it will create long-term benefits in the harness of the Yellow River.
