The Study of Suspended Sediment Concentration Distribution in Vertical Line in Waves Based on Diffusion Theory
In review of the research on vertical suspended sediment concentration in waves including advancement, methodology and shortcomings, it is necessary to set up a whole depth formula with firM theoretical base for vertical suspended sediment concentration. By dividing the wave field into two areas, potential flow and wave boundary layer, small amplitude theory is applied in the former and wave boundary layer theory is applied in the latter. Classical diffusion theory mainly applied in steady open channel flow trys to be applied in waves. The formula results are compared with the measurements, and show perfect agreement with the measurements, which indicates the applicability and feasibility of this extended diffusion theory in wave field. Some small errors in field of potential flow may originate from the difference between particle orbits of the sediment and the non-linear effect of the wave in the experiment and the small amplitude wave assumption.
