The Prototype Testing Study of Sanmenzia Reservoir
Sanmenxia dam locates at 113. 5 km below Tongguan section. It is the first large-size controlling multipurpose project built on the Yellow River. At the beginning of reservoir operation, the severe deposition occurred in reservoir area for lack of water discharge scale and other reasons, and Tongguan elevation rised rapidly. From then on, it had been rebuilt twice in order to increase discharge capacity and lessen the deposition in reservoir area. After that, with discharge capacity enlarged and the change of the reservoir operation mode, Tongguan elevation dropped and kept stable state. From the mid of 1980 s, the annual flow of Tongguan station especially in flood season decreased greatly, and Tongguan elevation had a durative rise. In order to control and lower Tongguan elevation, many measures have been taken, of which one is the prototype on Sanmenxia reservoir testing having start from 2003. Through collecting and analyzing the data of prototype testing on Sanmenxia reservoir in 2003 to 2007, this paper summarizes the characteristics of deposition in Sanmenxia reservoir area, the change of Tongguan elevation and the effect on deposition of Xiaolangdi reservoir area which caused by operation of Sanmenxia reservoir. The article gives some conclusive opinions that would be instructive for the reservoir s future administration.
