Removal of organic matters by ozidative poly-Si-Fe coagulant
An oxidative poly-Si-Fe (PSF) coagulant was prepared by oxidization and copolymerization method. The oxidization-reduction potential (ORP) of PSF and the removal of organic matters (OMs) by PSF in treating various waters were explored compared with that by polyferric aluminum (PFA). The results show that PSf has higher ORP value than PFA, with the difference of 420mV. PSF appears higher removal of OMs than PFA, with the largest difference of 12% and 26% for UV254 and CODMn in treating lower temperature and lower turbid water, and 66% and 54% for CODCr and color in treating slaughterhouse effluent. The oxidization of PSF plays a key role in OMs removal during the coagulation process.
