Establishment and Application of One-dimensional Model for Water Quality Simulation in Medium/Small Scale Rivers

According to the requirements of water quality planning in the Integrated Water and Environment Management Project (IWEMP), in this paper, Water Quality Simulation Tool, a one-dimensional model for water quality simulation, has been established for medium-and small-scale river. This model first generalizes the river branches in study area based on the rivers main hydraulic parameters, then codes serial numbers to them according to the relationship between adjacent river branches. After this, onedimensional mathematic models are applied to simulate water quality, using the monitored data of the runoff yield, water intake & outtake and water pollution. In the end, we applied this model to simulate the concentration of COD and NH3-N in the river of demonstration region of IWEMP, Tong Zhou. The results have shown a good fit between simulated data and the monitored one. Therefore, the model could be a reliable tool for simulating water quality in medium-and small-scale river.
