Coal-bed methane potential of Qinshui basin, Shanzi,China
Qinshui Basin developed in a north-south trending symmetric syncline as a result of the early Mesozoic orogenic cycle, which was bounded by the high degree slope both to the north and south, and the lower Paleozoic outcrops was distributed as a high degree monocline to the east and west area of the basin, then became the low relief fold to the center of the basin. A total of seven CBM blocks in the Qinshui Basin were evaluated exactly in this study, and top five of them were introduced briefly in this paper. Comparisons of the gas content with the isotherms and the burial depth of the coal seams, and the production rate with permeability of this coal seams that conducted to understand the gas productivity, if the reservoir can be dewater, and to help determine the potential for commercial development.
