Really CO2 dissolvable into coal structure, fiction or fact
Coal structure is generally viewed as a macromolecular network of cross-linked chains or clusters of aromatic rings, permitting CO2 molecules to be penetrated. The results of displacement experiments between CO2 and CH4 proved that Extend Langmuir equation can be not utilized to complete the simulators in enhanced coalbed methane recovery (ECBMR) projects, unless considering CO2 dissolution in coal. Another experimental data that the differential heat of adsorption of CO2 becomes less than its heat of condensation at the only pressure less than 3 MPa reveal that a part of the gas becomes dissolution state in coal structure, beside adsorption behavior. The actual significance is to further find out CO2 storage mechanism in ECBMr projects, the mechanism of coal-gas outburst due to coal swelling, and the evaluation method of coal surface area.
