Analysis of reservoir characteristics and main geological control factors of CBM in Pingdingshan coal mining area
Coalbed methane (CBM) is a flammable gas mainly composed of methane and existing in coal seams of sedimentary basin in form of absorption. Based on a large number of coal geological exploration data, combined with the results of laboratory analysis and testing, the paper analyzed systemically the geological characteristics of coalbed methane (CBM)in Pingdingshan coal mining area. Through the study of the coal seam distribution and occurrence regularity, evolution degree of the coal petrology and quality characteristics, physical mechanics and gas-bearing properties of the coal reservoir, the paper analyzed the background of the geological reservoir forming of coal bed methane, the paper also clarified the geologic factors of controlling gas of the coal reservoir. The results of the study showed thats the primary mineable coal bed is thick and stable, the thermal evolution degree is great, the gas content is high, the permeability is good. The geological tectonic evolution plays a decisive role in the formation and development of the coal measures during the Upper Paleozoic, the formation, aggregation and migration of coal bed methane. The developed fault in the mining area blocked the normal contact between each aquifer, it formed an independent hydrology geology unit with good sealing, it also provided the preservation of coal bed methane with a favorable hydrology geology conditions. The main controlling factors of coal-bed methane concentration are tectonic activity history, depth of the buried coal seam, thickness of the coal seam, thermal evolution degree and characteristics of the hydrology geology.
