Study on enrichment area of coal bed methane in the middle part of Hedong coal mine field

As both of fold and fault are scarce in the middle part of Hedong coal mine field, joint is the main form of structure. By the geologic survey about coal bed methane, many conditions such as structure, hydro geology, present ground stress, etc. were analyzed. By the work of statistics, subdividing stage and mating for joints, the character of joints development was ascertained. The numerical simulation of present ground stress about the coal bed was done on the basis of the above works. It is considered that the joint in the study area is the important factor to control the enrichment of coal bed methane. It is the joints which combined with stratal configuration, groundwater, present ground stress, etc. effectively, that will determine the effect of gathering coal bed methane. The enrichment area of coal bed methane in the study area was forecasted by analyzed synthetically.
