Influence of mining and strata structure on relieved coalbed methane drainage by surface vertical well
Based on a comparative analysis of strata structure, mining characteristics and gas production of practical relieved CBM drainage projects by surface vertical wells in various mining areas, the characteristics of strata structure which are suitable for drainage by surface vertical wells in various mining activities are summarized. The results indicate that it is favorable to gas drainage by surface vertical wells while the average coal extraction volume is between 2 426 tons and 3 898 tons if the strata structure around the well is that thickness of losses bed is less than 406 m, the ratio of the bedrock thickness to losses bed thickness is over 0.74, the interval between protective seam and protected seam is on the range of 60~70 m. The research also shows that surface drainage has a low success ratio while the strata around the well is that losses bed thickness is larger than 430 m, the space between protective seam and protected seam is more than 74 m, the ratio of the thickness between losses bed and bedrock is less than 0.7. But the gas production can be improved by changing well location and optimizing well structure.
