ICT for Millennium Development Goal
ICT has become the great enabler of modern society, helping people communicate across distances and across cultural divides, facilitating trade, and providing access to critical resources, such as healthcare and education. Over the past five years, there is an average of 30% increase of the ICT levels worldwide. Mobile access has marked the greatest increase, particularly in developing countries. Fixed, mobile broadband and Internet connections in the Asia Pacific Region represent half of the worlds statistics. ICT will have in integral role to play in fuelling economic recovery. ICT is a driving force for economic growth at a global level. Investment in ICt infrastructure brings direct benefits in increased employment today, as well as benefits in increased social and economic prosperity tomorrow.
