The Use of Wimaz for the Practice of Media Literacy Education Within the Contezt of Distant Learning

This article attempts to explore the nature and advantages of WiMAX for distant learning, and its use in the practice of media literacy education. The content of media literacy education includes three aspects: the attributes, impact and access of media, and its purposes are to liberate and empower learners, so each individual will be helped to reflect on the effects of media and participate in the reconstruction of healthy media community. WiMAX, used as a communication technology, will provide learners with opportunities not only to browse, exchange, and download the learning materials, but also to plan and self-direct their learning based on their own interests or problems derived from the real-life situations. This article is based on the literature analysis, apart from the exploration of how to use WiMAX for providing students with access to ubiquitous learning, the discussion is further focused on addressing teachers roles in using WiMAX for the practice of students-centered teaching approach.
