Novel Efficient Medical Image Transmission for e-Health Through WiMAX Network

This paper discusses the application of WiMAX and other related technologies in medical industry to improve the health status of patients at low cost from rural, urban or any remote location. The images of the diagnosis report of the serious injured patient are transmitted to the emergency medical center from any remote location through the WiMAX network. In this paper, discrete wavelet transform is used to convert images into a set of discrete coefficients such as Low-Low (LL), Low-High (LH), High-Low (HL), and High-High (HH). The authors show that LL approximation contains most of the energies of the image, and WiMAX physical layer carry this coefficients from transmitter to receiver to recover the original images. The authors also discuss the deployment of WiMAX network to facilitate the medical activities at any time from any location.
