Challenges in ICT and e-Governance at District Level: Andhra Pradesh Ezperience-An Overview
India is one of the oldest civilizations with a kaleidoscopic variety and rich heritage. Twenty eight States and seven Union Territories (UT) span the length and breadth of the country, marked by diversity in culture and geography but bound together by a common chord of Nationalism. There are 626 districts in India administered by their respective States and Union Territories Government, in Andhra Pradesh alone those were 23. The district as a unit of administration and the focal point for the field level activities has been an integral element of our society for ages. Notwithstanding many operational changes occasioned by the prevailing situations, it has continued as the most important pivot of field administration, the contact point between people and the government. Districts are the de facto front-end of government where most Government-to-Citizen (G2C)interaction and bulk of citizen centric services are delivered.
