Immunosensing Using Gold Nanoparticles

Electrochemical immunosensor have attracted interest for their high sensitivity and are attractive tool for the detection of analytes. Unlike other techniques electrochemical methods can detect low concentrations of analytes in complex samples. Furthermore, the required instruments are relatively simple, portable and are of low cost. This technique has attracted considerable interest and applied in many areas like clinical diagnosis, environmental pollution detection and biochemical analyses. Generally, electrochemical immunosensors are prepared by immobilizing various kinds of antibody or antigen on the electrode surface, and the analytes are measured through the changes of potential, current, conductance or impedance caused by antigen-antibody immunoreaction.
