Highly Stable Novel Hybrid Nanoliposomes

Introduction. Creation of novel and smart materials is one of the driving forces for the evolution of coating and encapsulation technologies. A challenge of materials engineering is the controlled assembly of purposefully designed molecules, or ensembles of molecules, into nano-and micrometer-scale structures to provide increasingly precise control at molecular levels, over the structure, properties and function of materials. Liposomes have been extensively investigated as biomembranes, models of self-assembly colloids as well as delivery vehicles for various chemotherapy drugs, diagnostic and cosmetic agents 1, 2. The therapeutic activity of these agents can be dramatically improved when their circulation longevity and disease site accumulation properties are increased through liposome encapsulation 3. Also, liposomal drug formulations offer the advantage of reducing drug toxicities that are often observed at concentrations similar to, or lower than, those required for maximum therapeutic activity 4.
