Electrochemical Ascorbic Acid Sensor Fabrication with the Use of Ferrocyanide Mediator Incorporated by A Polyelectrolyte-calcium Carbonate Microsphere
Ascorbic acid (AA) is a vital vitamin distributed widely in both the diet of humans and animal kingdoms. It has been commonly used for the prevention and treatment of common cold, mental illness, infertility, cancer and AIDS 1.The voltammetric determination of AA is usually based on its direct electrochemical oxidation on different electrode surface. The direct electrochemical oxidation of AA is possible but requires high overpotentials at bare Pt or glass carbon electrode (GCE), which are often confronted with electrode fouling, poor reproducibility, low selectivity and poor sensitivity, and thus this technique is rarely employed analytically 2. The alternative method with the introduction of electron mediators could be a solution toward these limitations.
