Preparation and Characterization of Well-proportioned Layered Poly(m-aminobenzenesulfonic acid)/TiO2 Nanosheets via Pulse Potentiostatic Method and Application for Direct Electrochemical Detection of DNA Hybridization

Nucleic acid detection is highly significant in diagnostics, genomics and clinical medicines. Most of the strategies require a DNA hybridization event, which could be monitored by either label or label-free methods 1,2. Due to the simple sample preparation, low DNA assay cost and no need for labeling steps, the direct and label-free electrochemical detection of DNA hybridization has recently emerged as the most attractive method. The immobilization of DNA probes and the hybridization event not only induce changes in the intrinsic properties of the substrate but also bring about changes in the various interfacial film properties, such as the capacitance and interfacial electron transfer resistance3. By monitoring the changes in electronic or interfacial properties accompanying the DNA immobilization and duplex formation events, the direct, label-free DNA biosensing would be accomplished.
