Synthesis of Single Crystal Gold Nanoplates by a Bioactive Molecule

It is well known that the physical and chemical properties of nanostructrues heavily depend on their size and shape 1-2. As a result, synthesis of size and shape controlling nanoparticles has become one of the hot spot in nanotechnology. Recently the synthesis of plate-like nanostructures has caused researchers intensive interesting because of their unique optical property and their promising application in biosensors, biomedical diagnostics, SERS, catalysis and so on 3-4. Up to now, several approaches have been developed to fabricate metal nanoplates, such as thermal growth, seed-mediated approach, templated method, photo irradiation method, biomineralization and biomimetic approaches. However, most of these methods demand rigorous conditions or specific instruments to achieve the reaction or the active molecule is different to identify.
