Polymer Detection by Electrochemical Method
In the industrial cooling water system, a number of chemicals have to be added in order to inhibit scale and deposit formation. The particularly useful chemicals are water-soluble anionic polymers, such as polyacrylic acid and modified polyacrylic acid. It is required that the concentration of the polymers in the water must be carefully monitored. Improper feed amount of the anionic polymers can lead to serious problems. For example, severe scaling and/or deposition formation can rapidly occur on heatexchange surfaces in cooling and boiler water systems when too low amount of polymer is used. In contrast, if too large amount of the polymer is employed, the cost would be high.
