THE FUNCTION OF INFORMATION AND TECHNOLOGY IN EMPOWERMENT OF WOMEN
There are rapid technological changes occurring globally with differential effects on gender. This paper explores emerging gender issues in this environment. The genders have different intentions and experiences of computer usage in training and learning. Accessibilities of computers itself is a big dream still in many places. Women empowerment can be achieved through gaining knowledge, ideas, culture, and passions. The computer skills will allow them to productively transform knowledge and information into innovative products and services.This will help gender to lead both themselves and their nation in competitiveness, and increased wealth and prosperity. Knowledge and information are the most essential concepts which will lead to empowerment of women.The advances of science and technology requires a whole new set of skills. This paper describes how information and knowledge-driven society would help in bringing empowerment of women. Once Women Are empowered, then they can compete in a global knowledge based economy.
