Using an English Online Newspaper (NiEXUS) for Undergraduates: Assessing the effectiveness of the programme

This paper reports the results of an English Enhancement Course (EEC) specially offered to undergraduates who have just completed their first year at the University of Malaya, Malaysia. The course involves the four language skills and self-directed learning using the NST online program, NiEXUS. A total of 379 students underwent this three week course, and the feedback from the students and posst-test results indicated that EEC helped them improve their English proficiency.
