Enlightenments of 5.12 Wenchuan Earthquake

At 14:28 on May 12, 2008, an especially big earthquake measured 8. 0 on the Richter scale struck Wenchuan county (31.0 degrees north latitude, 103.4 degrees east longitude), Aba Prefecture of Sichuan Province. It is not only a quake disaster of the most destruction, the most wide-spread, the heaviest losses and the most difficult relief ever since the founding of new China, but also the most serious catastrophe with casualties, property losses, infrastructure damages in record of Sichuan Province. Humans can learn from disasters! In the mean time when we are mourning the dead, pleased with the survivors and moved by the rescue members at the anniversary of 5. 12 Wenchuan earthquake, we are also thinking about the lessons and enlightenments it brings us: in our future long-term coexistence with disasters, how can we better carry out the work of earthquake prevention and disaster reduction and how can we more effectively respond to similar disasters. Here are several enlightenments reflected from the Wenchuan earthquake.
