A Pioneer of Operations Research in China-Zhou Huazhang

摘要：

Zhou Huazhang (1917-1968). graduated from the University of Chicago in 1952.was one of the earliest Chinese doctor of econometrics. On his returning home in 1953. together with Qian Xuesen, Hua Luogeng. Xu Guozhi and Liu Yuanzhang. Zhou came into an active play in bringing home the science of operations research, introducing the input-output method, and enhancing the industrial mathematical statistics. Accordingly Zhou has donated great contribution to the foundation and promotion of management science in China. However, apart from the colleges within the academic circle who possess a good historical knowledge of the Chinese management science, perhaps there are just a few that could remember the name of Zhou Hua/hang. Basing on relevant historical materials and archives, this paper is to brief Zhous life and works, as well to present his academic activities and achievement.
