Measuring method of wetting and wicking feature of woven fabric based on image processing
A computer-based image system was used to measure and analyze the wetting and wicking properties of woven fabrics. After obtaining the image signals into the system, the Fourier spectrum a-nalysis was conducted to extract the useful information from the initial raw data. Other algorithms were used to suppress the weave pattern components in all the images so as to enhance the information reflecting wetting and wicking processes. By using such information from a sequential image set, the wetting or wicking front curves for either 1D case or 2D case at different time interval were produced in detail. The present results indicate that image processing and analysis algorithms have high efficiency and accuracy in investigation of wetting or wicking processes in fibrous substrates.
