The microstructure and tensile deformation of the nano-composite filaments treated by plasma

The purpose of the present work is to investigate the influence of plasma treatment on the microstructure and tensile deformation of the plasma treated nanoSiO2/polypropylene (PP)/polylactic acid (PLA) nanocomposite filaments. The APPJ plasma treatment parameters, such as treatment helium, treatment oxygen, treatment time and output power, had very close relations with the tensile and thermal properties of the plasma treated nano-SiO2/PP/PLa nano-composite filaments based on the experimental results of tensile tests and DSC. The combination of 0.1mL/min treatment oxygen and 18mL/min treatment helium for the sample resulted in the largest activation volume of sample, indicating that the two parameters effectively assisted naho-SiO2 to act as obstacles to dislocation motion during mircrostructural plastic deformation mechanisms. And sample with 17ml/min treatment helium had the highest viscosity among all the chosen samples. Then, sample processed under 0.2mL/min treatment oxygen, 20mL/min treatment helium, 108s treatment time and 120W output power was the optimum plasma treatment condition for Ts and Tm of the nano-composite filaments.
