Study on the preparation of hollow polystyrene particles
The hollow polystyrene particles were prepared by suspension polymerization approach. The influences of the concentration of sodium dodecyl benzene sulfonate (SDBS), the ratio of divinyl-benzene(DVB) to styrene (St) and the dosage of St on the diameters of polystyrene particles are studied. According to the tEM graph, the particles were confirmed to be porous and their average diameter of pores is about 1.5 μm. The experimental results demonstrate that the diameters of prepared particles decrease with the increase of the concentration of SDBS and DVB/St, while that of particles increase with the augment of the dosage of St. The optimized prepared condition was that the concentration of SDBS, DVB/St and the dosage of St are 0.012%, 1 and 2.6 g,respectively.
