Development of alkali ion source for Li+ ion-attachment mass spectrometry
A kind of lithium ion source used for ion attachment mass spectrometry was fabricated and tested. The lithium ion source was made using a Re ribbon filament coated with Li2O·Al2O3·SiO2, which was developed in a high vacuum chamber. The filament temperature of 1300*0 was decided in consideration of the effects of the durability of the filament and the quantity of the lithium ions. The copious lithiuM ions were detected using a time of flight mass spectrometry. It showed the applicability of the lithium ion source in mass spectrometry.
