The Analysis on the Performances of Chinese Curling Teams in 2008 Curling World Championships
The sport of curling is economical, and pursues techniques and intelligence, therefore, in terms of sports characteristics it is suitable to develop in China. The 2008 World Women s Curling Championship was held on March 22 in Vernon, Canada, and the 2008 World Women s Curling Championship on April 5 in Grand Fox, North Dakota. At each championship, 12 women s teams and 12men s teams participated. For the women s championship, the gold medal and the third place were won by Canada and USA respectively, and the Chinese women s team won the silver medal by 13-3 and was qualified for the 2010 Winter Olympics. For the men s championship, Canada also won the first place and the Chinese men s team won the fourth place by 7-6, setting the best result of Chinese men s team in world championships. At these championships, although Chinese women s team and men s team both won and lost in some aspects, both teams played with their real strength and tactics from the whole view and both teams greatly improved their sense of offense-defense conversion. Through analyzing the performances of Chinese curling teams in 2008 World Curling Championships, current problems of Chinese curling teams can be found out, which will be theoretically supportive for their pursuit of curling medals at the 2010 Winter Olympics.
