Analysis of Knowledge Networks within an Organization
This paper presents the analysis of properties of the knowledge network of the teachers in a management school. From data collected through a questionnaire, a knowledge network in which each teacher is expressed as a node and a directed tie represents one teacher turns to another with the frequency as the weight of the tie is mapped. The purpose of this article is to show two main properties of this network: the knowledge sources of the knowledge network and the communities in the weighted knowledge network. Additionally, the influence of the knowledge sourcesleaving is discussed and the role of intercommunity active actors in the network is identified. It is a practical measure to find members of different roles in the knowledge network, improve efficiency of knowledge transfer within the network, and enhance capability to create knowledge and promote innovation.
