Application of Knowledge Audit in the Process of Product Development
As the first step of knowledge management, knowledge audit aims at mining and carding the enterprises knowledge asset, and helps to analyze the enterprises advantage, weakness and threat in knowledge competition. On the other hand, the process of product development is one of knowledge-intensive processes of the enterprises business processes, including knowledge acquisition, usage, storage, creation, innovation and so on. Thus the knowledge audit to the process of product development will support the enterprises knowledge management strategy. Firstly, this paper described the aim, function and content of knowledge audit. To follow, the process of product development, the knowledge flow and the knowledge within the process were analyzed. Then a model based on the knowledge audit to identify the knowledge and knowledge flow in the process of product development was established. At last, the model was described stage by stage in three aspects: objective, approach, and tools.
