Interaction Technology in Kids Education Based on Tablet PC
This research focuses on the use of the Tablet PC in education. The addition of increased interaction through more powerful technology is forcing a reconceptualization of learning for kids. Project developed thus far includes Drawing, Question-Answer (QA), Whiteboard, Group discussion, Desktop sharing. The paper explains the innovation applications of the Tablet PC, showing how the Tablet PC can be used on kids education. It then presents an overview of the system and describes these five applications. Finally, we draw the conclusion and what we are supposed to do in the next step. The original idea of the Tablet PC is to find out the new way of human-computer interaction (HCI)techniques other than the WIMP① before. Tablet Pc will change the situation from the computer-centric now to the human-centric, thus it carries out the new way of human-computer interaction-the stylus as the pen and screen as the paper, and makes the human return to the original way before compute appears, which cater to the primary users-the kids especially. So we do some research on interaction technology in kids education, integrating it with digital ink technology and handwriting recognition in an application, and promote the application in art course and language course in a modeling primary school. Our project supports the pedagogical needs of the childrens classroom as well as typical student group collaborative environments. Desktop sharing is one example of providing excellent classrooM presentation capabilities. Drawing is a typical human-machine interaction ways in kids education. QA, whiteboard and group discussion also allow for a highly interactive environment with both teacherstudent and student-student bi-direction real-time interaction.
