An Application of Systems near Decomposition to Improving Software Design Quality
The authors have been developing a system which was designed for volleyball researchers to study tactics of games. Since the developers did not know the details of volleyball, each functions required by researchers have been implemented one by one. Afterwards, almost all functions developed were integrated into a total system by using tab-sheets. Due to the lack of knowledge of volleyball, this integration unexpectedly brought about an unfavorable side effect that some relevant pieces of data would not be displayed on the same tab-sheet. Then, the system should be redesigned so that relevant data can be displayed on the same tab-sheef or on another window. In order to redesign the system, authors tried to apply the idea of systems near decomposition
