Study of Porosity in Goaf of Fully Mechanized Coalface
From the viewpoint of cracked rock porosity definition, according to characteristics that stress plays a dominant role in porosity distribution, as an example, porosity at different locations in the goaf of a coalface in Huainan Mining Area was derived. The results show that: along the strike of coal seam from supports in coalface to the depth in goaf porosity gradually decreases, its maximum value at places nearby supports is about 0.677, and in compaction zone about 0.019. A-long the slope of coal seam from central line of the face to downside or upside, porosity gradually increases and its value varies with different distance from the face to depth in goaf. On the central line along strike direction in goaf at vertical direction in the range of 0 to 70m, porosity from floor to roof gradually increases; in different altitudes porosity distribution almost presents dustpan shape. Comparative studies show that estimated porosity distribution corresponds with its actual situation. Parameters estimated by the method can be used to study gas flow patterns in goaf.
