Technical Development on Non-Contact Measurement of Monitoring Self-Heating of Sulfide Ore Dumps
Temperature of sulfide ore dump is an important parameter in judging its oxidation and self-heating velocity and the temperature can be further used to forecast the spontaneous combustion. Now, invention of infrared thermometer provided a new approach to measure the ore dump temperature. However, the sensing data of the infrared thermometer for various measuring distances, ore samples and environmental conditions are different and these properties should be investigated. In this paper, the surface temperature of three different sulfide ore samples was measured by Raytek infrared thermometer and CENTER tangent thermometer simultaneously, and the measured values were analyzed in details. By the test, some conclusions were drawn; ①the trend figures of the surface temperature change of three different ore samples were depicted; ②some factors that influence the measure error of Raytek noncontact thermometer were mastered; ③the correlation between the measure error and measure distance was estimated by curve fitting, of which was used to correct the error between the genuine surface temperature of ore piles and the value that was measured by Raytek thermometer; ④the quantitative relationship between the values from infrared thermometer and the factual temperature of the ore piles was established. These results are of great significance in inventing a new technical of noncontact measure for monitoring sulfide ore dumps that has oxidation and self-heating behavior, with high measure accuracy, quick feedback, convenience, safety, low cost, and so on.
