STUDY ON THE SURFACE CHEMICAL CHARACTERISTICS OF FINES
This study had investigated the surface chemistry characteristics, and the effects of pH value and conductivity to both original fines (P200) and the fragment fines (P200) of long fibers (R30) which comes from beating processing were studied. The study was carried out with deion pulp. The results show that a distinct differences in their morphology and surface chemical characteristics. P200 has higher contents of pentosan, ash and carboxyl groups than those of P200.P200 has higher metal ions content and larger surface area than P200.Tremendous specific surface area of P200 results in higher water retention value (WRV) and cationic demand. The WRV of fines is increased along with pH enhance, and decreased along with the conductivity accretion. The cationic demand of fines is elevating along with ph value and conductivity rising.
