NMR ANALYSIS OF LIGNIN FROM OLD NEWSPRINT LACCASE-VIOLURIC ACID SYSTEM DEINKED PULP
Old newsprint could be deinked by laccase-violuric acid system (LVS). In order to get a better understanding of lignin structural changes during the LVS deinking, lignin preparations from the control and LVS-deinked pulps were analyzed by 1H-NMR and 1H13C correlation 2D-NMR spectroscopy. Results indicated that the structure of lignin was changed during the LVS deinking. The contents of methoxyl, phenolic hydroxy, aliphatic hydroxy of lignins calculated according to 1H-NMR decreased during the LVS treatment. 1H-13C correlation 2D-NMR results showed that guaiacyl units were oxidized by LVS. β-O-4 and β-β type sub-structure in lignin were degraded, while stilbene, dibenzene methane and 5-5 type sub-structure were stable to LVs treatment.
